Depends where you start, if you start at a young age, nope, if you start as a teenager, maybe, as an adult, probably the hardest, but it all depends on what you learn first and how dedicated you are to learning it.
A friend of mine was so dedicated, she had a book full of kanji she had practiced writing daily until she could remember them off by heart...

Well, the one place you can start is with a simple little handbook, or like the normal everyday things such as arigato, konichiwa, and stuff like that, meaning greetings, certain foods and everyday sayings, i could help you out if you like...
