I think they are actually talking about doing that, from a point of view from a Marine then he turns into an ODST. They also said there will be another Halo game, not Halo 5, coming out soon.

Oh...Yeah I was going to go with a sort of, police officer to UNSC Marine, to Orbital Drop Shock Trooper and then probably a Spartan. But hey, never mind.
