Dig these new DmC screens and Weapon art

Gaflima

Son of no one.
For those of us eagerly looking forward to DmC, the wait may feel excruciating at times, and indeed, much of the project is still shrouded in mystery. Today, we can at least enjoy these new screens, concept art, and tidbits of info to tide us over for a bit.
Dante
DmC’s Dante is a young man who has no respect for authority or indeed society in general. Dante knows that he is not human, but also that he is not like the demons that have tormented him throughout his life. Caught between worlds, he feels like an outcast.

Dante grew up in various institutions, orphanages, youth correction facilities and foster homes but these were mostly operated by demons and often resulted in torture and violence. Dante has therefore developed a deep hatred of demons and authority in general but tries to stay incognito. He sides with the little guy, the victims of what he sees as an unfair society.
Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory
In Game
The Rebellion sword was given to Dante by his father Sparda as a weapon with which he could protect himself against the demons that hunt him. How Dante came in to possession of Ebony and Ivory or where they come from is unknown.
Design Ethos
The design philosophy behind both Rebellion and Ebony & Ivory is to create the impression that they were crafted a long, long time ago and since their creation they have sent innumerable demons to their doom.
Ebony & Ivory have straight, clean looking barrels that make them look like contemporary firearms, while the addition of ornate embossing is used to give the guns a feeling of mystique and uniqueness. As you move into the grip you can see that the guns have a more fluid, liquid-like look that adds further mystery and a demonic flavor to their design.
Rebellion is designed to look like a powerful sword, with the detailing in the handle giving it a feeling of historical significance coupled with a demonic heritage. The same design ethos that was used for the Ebony & Ivory grips is also true for Rebellion’s hilt, making the weapons match stylistically.

Absolutely crazy about the weapons. I find myself preferring the new guns from the old ones:D
yea the new guns do look more badass than the previous ebony and ivory.

But the new rebellion sword is another story...

The old one looked MUCH better IMO.

have to agree the old rebellion looked better imo too, however it does look like they have tweeked the new rebellion a bit, and i like the design, it definitely matches ebony and ivory. :)

Agreed. The old Rebellion was awesome.

To be fair though, it was just a sword to me when it first appeared in Devil May Cry 2. I prefered it in regards of appearance to both Vendetta and Merciless, but wasn't really as much of a fan for it. Totally prefered the Force Edge and/or Alastor.

In DMC3, it made its 2nd appearance. And its description changed from "A standard sword that Dante uses" to "A sword left to Dante by the Legendary Dark Knight Sparda, Dante's father" making it sound more important and giving it some sort of credit. The fact that it changed when in contact to Dante's blood added more to its story and awesomeness. But I still prefered the ones I mentioned before.

It was when I saw it in DMC4 (was I only influenced by the better graphics? maybe, but I can't say for sure) that I became a fan of it, and was really glad that Dante used it.

So in that regard the new Rebellion looks mighty fine in its own way. I actually like it more than the DMC2/3 Rebellion but way less than the DMC4 Rebellion. I love skulls so, it might also be prejudice on my part.

i would have to say that i do like new rebellion's design more than force edge or alastor, but dmc3 rebellion is my favorite! :) but did you guys notice the move that looks awfully similar to stinger in the screenshots? :)

Interesting, Capcom Blog removed the post entirely. That would indicate they posted it too early, and that they have much more in store to go with it.

okay so speaking of new info, i saw this post on ninja theory's twitter:

We're at GDC next week. Our Chief Creative Director Tameem will be presenting on performance capture and how we've used it in our games #dmc So i know their post didn't have anything to do with dmc, but the hashtag is dmc, so does that mean that next week they will be showing some new footage on dmc? or am i just over-speculating? lol

Niiiice. Loving the aesthetic of the game. So much detail. Now if only we could see this stage in motion...

still, glad to see Sparda being mentioned. and is it just me or have the demons been redesigned?
