Question about Modding

I hadn't planned on making any custom skins for DmC but with the nice texmod guide at the top of this forum I managed to play around a little and customize Dante's clothes. (changed tank top color, change crystal color and added a Far Cry 3 logo) Following the forums it looks like people are searching through the files of DMC: Devil May Cry, why?

I want to better understand why so perhaps I can help.

People are probably looking for methods of modding more indepth, such as model editing.
